What Is AI Thinkers™?

Last year, a student raised her hand mid-lesson and asked: "If the AI already knows the answer, why do I have to think?"

That question stopped me cold. Not because it was wrong — but because it was exactly right. And it's the question AI Thinkers was built to answer.

AI is already here. Students encounter it in search engines, apps, games, writing tools, and image generators — often without realizing it. The real challenge isn't teaching students to use these tools. It's teaching them to think alongside them.

That's what AI Thinkers does.

More Than Learning About AI

Many AI resources focus on what AI is or how to use it. While those topics matter, AI Thinkers begins with a different goal:

Teach students how to think when AI is involved.

Rather than treating AI as something students should blindly trust — or completely avoid — AI Thinkers helps students develop the habits of mind needed to use AI thoughtfully, responsibly, and confidently.

Students learn to ask questions, evaluate information, recognize bias, compare options, revise their thinking, and make informed decisions.

Because ultimately, the most important skill is not using AI.

A Framework for Living With AI

At the heart of AI Thinkers is a simple belief:

AI is a tool. Humans decide.

Students learn this through the AI Trust Triangle™, a visual model that places human judgment at the center of every AI interaction.

From there, students practice a collection of Hero Moves — reusable thinking tools that help them work with AI effectively.

These include:

• QUACK™ for evaluating AI responses

• Fairness Scan™ for recognizing bias and missing perspectives

Designed for Growth

AI Thinkers follows a developmental progression across grades K–5.

Students move through four identities:

• Explorers (K–1)

• Builders (Grades 2–3)

• Detectives (Grades 4–5)

• Analysts (Middle School, future release)

Each stage introduces age-appropriate ways to understand AI while gradually increasing student independence.

The goal is not simply to teach students about technology. The goal is to help students become thoughtful, capable decision-makers.
